Atlanta police shot and killed a man at a Wendy’s drive-thru Friday night. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation identified the man killed as Rayshard Brooks, 27, of Atlanta.
According to GBI Officers responded to a call at 10:33 p.m. about a man sleeping in a parked vehicle in the drive-thru, causing other customers to drive around it. According to witnesses At some point, an officer deployed a stun gun and according to GBI, that is when Brooks grabbed the stun gun and was shot by police. Brooks was taken to a local hospital where he died following emergency surgery.
However, Video is emerging online that adds more details to the story. According to this video, there was a struggle but Mr Brooks eventually breaks free and runs away with the taser. One officer trails behind him deploying his taser, thats when the other officer fired his gun shooting the man.
Another video posted online shows the aftermath of the shooting. A man cited as Doran confronts the police after the shooting.
According To ABC This is the 48th officer-involved shooting GBI has been requested to investigate this year. Of those 48 cases it includes the fatal police-involved shootings of 15 people.
